Back in the saddle
Discussion
Confession: it's been about a decade since I've been on my bike.
I few years ago, I had my bikes shipped over from SA, and they've been collecting dust in the garage for some time. This is despite me giving the MTB a service a while ago.
Then a few weeks ago I bought Mrs Pints a bike for her birthday, and she's been out riding every day. So yesterday I decided to join her. Only a gentle 10km ride, and it felt good. A bit tender on the posterier this morning, but the bug has definitely bitten again.
Out shopping for a few extras this morning (my old helmet is much tighter than I remember it).
Cool story, bro, etc. but what's the longest you've been out of the saddle?
And any suggestions for a 30-somethinger trying to find his lycra legs again?

Ride moar
+1, no substitute for getting the miles in.
Oh and padded shorts are a must. I bought these last weekend as I'm recovering from an ACL repair so just cycling easy on flat pedals on my MTB for now. http://www.decathlon.co.uk/EN/rr-5-shorts-3881008/... for a tenner and you can remove the padded inners and have normal shorts.
You're welcome to come riding with me mate! I'm just getting back into it myself, and managed 18.5 miles the other day after a few 13 mile rides (sorry I'm using miles!)
If you come across any good bike tracks (or are you riding road?) then please let me know. I'm always looking for new routes to keep me interested!

It's only my MTB I've got sorted so far, but not taken to any off-road trails yet. Happy to join you on either road or dirt.If you come across any good bike tracks (or are you riding road?) then please let me know. I'm always looking for new routes to keep me interested!
Although be warned: I'm seriously unfit.

Drop me a text/mail.

Will do buddy! I've got a rubbish bike, so no doubt you'd be fine keeping up with me (and my dodgy knee)!Although be warned: I'm seriously unfit.

At the moment I tend to be doing the National Route 45, so go from my place in West up to Old Town, down to Coate, and over to Chiseldon. I normally do the return leg on the road as it's a bit flatter.
Well it seems I should have taken up smoking because, despite all these years of clean living, I still collapsed into a convulsing, wheezing, gibbering idiot after only a very mediocre hill climb lastnight.
Thanks for the ride out, Pulse. A pretty good little route that. And if I do it regularly for a week or two, it should see me ready to smash that 10km barrier.
