Searched and couldn't see that anyone's posted this yet,

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-latin-america-1236...

Mind boggling that they have no concept of the modern world, they're lucky in a way! I hope they're left in peace.

Me too, it would be a real crime if these people were exposed to "civilisation", presumably against their wishes...

World is a big place and there are swathes of areas out there where 'civilisation' still hasn't gotten a hold.
I think the world still holds quite a lot of surprises for us.smile

It doesn't look like they've been given a choice. They looked pretty interested in the plane, maybe they want to see more.

Have a look on the survival website. Plenty of uncontacted peoples. That video is available in far higher quality here http://www.uncontactedtribes.org/brazilfootage

The Sentinelese people on the Andaman North Sentinel island are pretty fascinating also, not least for the Inidan governments attempts to make contact (which they have fearsomely resisted), and the fact that you can scan their island on Google earth looking for habitation etc! There are two ship wrecks on the island, it must have been a crazy alien event for them when the goods started washing ashore. More here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sentinelese_people

I was lucky enough to spend a week treking through the remote Baliem valley in West Papua, home to the Dani and Lani tribes. These people were first contacted after their cultivated fields were spotted during WW2. Although their is an airstrip in Wamena, there are no roads or other ways into the area. It's pretty remote. Stone / pig bone tools are the norm, seashells were the currency. A really crazy experience, but lovely, friendly people (headhunting aside). It's a week I'll never forget. Nothing plastic or metal. No sanitation (people crap in a bush). Huge amounts of inbreeding.

Cheeky photo redface)

More here: http://www.pbase.com/duncan_c/papua08 (contains some tribal nudity, but don't get too excited it's all very saggy)

Sadly, the Christian missionaries moved in shortly after the area was discovered and most traditional beliefs have been lost. And the Indonesian government is slowly trying to wipe out the tribes to get access to the vast mineral resources in the area.
