My friends new bargain bus

I've got a very good friend that has had it relatively hard this last 18 months and his current car isn't the most reliable but he can't afford to replace it at the moment.
I bought him this last night for the brilliant price of £500!!
It's a 2.2 turbo petrol with full history and a little over 130k on the clock. Full leather and electrics.
It does need a good valet but once cleaned it will look fantastic and I hope my mate loves it!!

Nice car.

You now need to drop the sump and clean the oil pick up strainer. Have a read of this:

The job will cost £150ish at an indie if you don't fancy it yourself. If you don't, your engine will probably be toast at some point. Just look at the number of 9-5's with engine failure because of oil starvation. Saab did do a recall for the problem, so your car might have benefited from this.

very nice, my brother has an identical car (in white) that he bought for £100 due to the sludgy oil problem - its pretty easy to fix (the stuff in the sump was like a cross between crude oil and crispy dinosaurs!) and has proved to be a reliable sturdy car!

If times are hard i wouldnt have thought a 2.2litre petrol was the first choice, but never the less nice car and nice thing to do.

Thanks all, maybe I shouldn't have given back ground because it wasn't the gesture but the car I wanted to show off.
The reason I bought him the 9-5 was the level of luxury you can get for a small amount.
He doesn't drive many miles so the 26mpg or whatever won't matter much.
I'm giving it to him tomorrow so I'll report back his reaction!!

Are they not a 2.3 turbo? My parents had a 1999 one from new, exactly the same, except in blue and without the leather. I think it was possibly my favourite car they ever had. Think we were unlucky with reliability as my parents had to fork out for a new gearbox just after the warranty ran out. Needless to say they never bought Saab again, but it won't stop me. Really lovely cars, and I think they still look great, the back end being the best angle IMO.

He is over the moon with the car. It's really tidy with no dings or dents.
It needs a good polish and carpet needs a good clean!

For £500 you could not have got anything better than that. Loads of metal for the money. Glad he likes it OP.
