Yes, another TVR Insurance thread!
A year into ownership and I have just had to renew my insurance.
During my first year, I was insured by a popular performance car insurer - Good service on the phone but expensive for the cover I got. Their renewal cost came in about £80 more than last year which I wasn't pleased about.
(Me: 32, no claims/convictions, Chim 500 with mods including brakes, alloys, shocks, etc. 5k miles/year)
Rang or emailed all of the specialists mentioned on PH in other threads and in the Wiki.
Manning came out on top - Spoke to Lee and he really knew what TVRs were all about - Top bloke. Mods were not a problem and they also included European cover and track days. The cost was just under £340 - less than half my renewal quote!
The other insurer worth a mention - Henderson Taylor. Apparently the new kid on the block but again Matthew seemed to understand the needs of TVR drivers and he provided a quote just £10 more than Manning but quoted a slightly higher excess.
Definitely worth giving these 2 companies a call when arranging your insurance.
The other specialists seemed to come in £100-£200 more expensive and the comparison sites didn't like modded TVRs at all - cheapest was £850+!!!

Just insured my new Chimaera with Mannings and was also really impressed with the quote and the way they dealt with it. I actually got one quote £50 cheaper but decided to go with Mannings any way because was impressed with them. MSM took 24hours to call me back then came in a lot more expensive, RH was the cheapest quote I got. I do get my hat nailed on with all insurance though due to my Manchester post code.

until I added another 3000 miles to the policy then an extra £40 but still well under £250 for 5000 miles in an S3 is good, just wish they'd do a classic 3000 miles policy. Excellent service on the phone toojust wanted to say thanks for recommending henderson taylor, i'd not heard of them before but they were £500 cheaper than manning for me! not sure why manning were uncompetitive for me (even more than the renewal fee offered by my previous standard insurer), although the guy on the phone there was v.friendly and knew tvr. henderson taylor were £30 cheaper than the next best quote from m&m and include trackday cover, so v.happy.
Just a word of warning on classic policies that don't have a no
claims bonus attached to them. I had a classic policy a few years back
for about 2 years then when I went back to a normal car I was informed
that my no claims had "Lapsed" due to having the classic policy that didn't attract one and that I would have to start over !! Took me a load
of hassle to find a company who were willing to accept my original 20 odd year no claims. Just something to check on before commiting to a classic policy.
