Looking at Gorlech as a lung burster on saturday - does anyone know how scary the descents are?

Descents are fine. To be honest I've always wondered why it's a black, as it's not scary steep at all. The raven climb is certainly a lung buster however. The thing about Brechfa is that you shouldn't necessarily steer away from the other routes as they are really great fun at speed, and I'm sure if you google for Brechfa Monster you can find a single large route which takes in the best parts of all the trails - mbswindon have done this a few times and am pretty sure they have a map of it. If you can't find it I'll look for it... Certain swoopy parts in the woods of the raven are my favourite sections of any trail.

Gorlech is a great fun trail, there are 3 long (compared to other trail centres) climbs but they're all ether on fireroads or widetrack and not steep so if you're not a racing snake you can grind them out on the granny ring and take in the amazing views.
The descents are very man made in feel, every turn is a berm, every straight has a tabletop or woop on it, but it's all the more fun because of it but they can be largly taken at any speed you feel comfortable with, but if you're brave and really let rip they're insane fun. There's the odd tricky thing there, a couple of near vert rollovers, but they've got a chicken run, a reasonably big jump that needs to be rode too as it's slightly off-line and the 'big dipper' near the middle of the trail there's a very steep bit, it's after a nice single track section so you're nicely dialed in when you get onto it, you come around a nice wide turn and turn onto it, as soon as you're level with the otherside jut let the brakes off, you'll fly down it (with a nice feeling of compression at the base) and up the equally steep otherside.
The last long descent which natually breaks up into 3 parts is a blinder, it's like a steep BMX track.
The Raven is a killer for me, a not terribly light bloke on a 6" trail bike, some of the descents have tricky bits on them, there's a log ride or two and a section which criss-crosses over a drystone wall that an eye opener, but it's the silly steep climbs that kill me. Good fun though, but it's a trail I'm always glad to finish.
