Reccomend me a bike shop in Surrey/Berks

Hi Folks,

Just moved to the area. I'm looking to get properly sized for my road bike as well as buying a few bits for it. The bike is a Cannondale, but I I'm not necessarily fussed about about going to a Cannondale dealer; getting someone who knows what (s)he's doing is more important.

Can anyone recommend a decent shop to do this?

www.cyclesdauphin.com is near box hill if thats any good. they have a good reputation and know road bikes better than most other shops.

in any shop though, you should be expecting to pay around £75 and get about an hour of someones time, ideally it should include some time on your bike on rollers or a trainer, a video camera, some review and explanations, adjustments and recommendations.

out of interest, why are you only getting sized up now? are you suffering from pain in a certain area?, what is the purpose of getting sized up and fitted now? any plans for racing or audax? you can do a lot with stem herght/length and seat position.

I bought the bike on line (although I did do some size calculations before hand) and the handlebar reach is a tad long (my saddle's as far forward as t will go), so I'd like to get an expert opinion on how well I fit it currently and what changes (if any) I need.

My objective thus far is fitness. No racing/events planned yet.

I live 2 mins from dauphin on box hill. The guys in there are very very good and know what they're doing!

Another vote for Dauphin, but also take a look at Sigma Sport in Hampton Wick - they have a great new shop and really know their stuff. They also offer bike fitting sessions.

Locations in Crowthorne, Reading and Woodley; although I've only had experiences with the Crowthorne branch, they have only ever been A1 for service.

Just for a heads up they are opening the clearence store on Friday so pop over for a possible bargain, it is just up or down the road depending on your location nearer Kingston bridge.

Good guys and have an impressive set up, the bike fitting is Specialised BG fit if they can't fit you in you also have the specialised concept store that do fittings which is also in Kingston and funnily enough run by the sigma lot as well.

Failing that you have Prologue in Sheen.

I've been very happy with the service I've had from Cycleworks in Leatherhead whenever I've used them. They don't have the ability to set you up on rollers with video cameras and the like though!
