I took my S3 for a spin yesterday, first time since adjusting the clutch slave cylinder last weekend.

Happily buzzing along till Nova SR boy with bean can back box and too-big alloys bolted on pulled out in front of me.

Not too bothered by this, I pulled up at the lights at the (now) duel carriageway next to him, me thinking pull away without making a big deal about it, and be able to enjoy my drive without the Nova in front.

Lights turn green... rasp of 6" Nova exhaust starts... and me not used to the newly adjusted clutch do a fantastic job of stalling my car...

I thought it was quite funny, but what got me was when I restarted and rolled up behind Nova boy at the next junction, was the fact he was giving me this smug "Me Nova trashed da TVR innit" look.

Can't help but thinking - Bugger

Same with a mate years ago at the lights in a 1600 Crapri. Only the opposition was a robin. Same thing happened. He never lived it down. Mind you the Robin was optomistic.

Cheer up! Just think, if you had a Nova you could join their intelligent, witty and friendly community. Just look at what you are missing out on:

I always get disappointed when the Novas etc., don't give it a go. Local Jap turbos seem to be more playful though.

quality I liked this one:
Great web one of the best i've seen so far .I've got a 1.2
red nova and modding's going alright. I need a GSI spoiler
and GSI skirts ,Also a laguan splitter so if any ones got
on please e-mail .

and this one:
im curently driving a 1litre nova what iwasnt sure about
was wheel size im in ireland so insurance rules out 1.3sr 4
the moment anyway back to the wheels id like to mabye fit
15,s but nobody can tell me if they will fit my car as they
seem to believe that the arches on a 1.3SR are larger.i
went to my local scrap yard and got a set of 14,s off
avauxhall some thing or other i cant rember what it was the
wheels took 195 60,s and fitted my car with no rubbing or
arch scrapping all i needed to do was lower it but funds
was a problem. are you ready 4 this jack up the car with
the wheel removed since im a metal fabricator (apprentice)
igot out the welder and burnt through the spring exactly
one loop which i proced to remove then i welded the end i
had cut to the spring. hey presto instant lowering
springs.sounds rough is rough .b4 i go just thought id
mention in ireland insurance sucks but as far as mods go
you dont need to declare a filter or back box radios yes my
own insurance went up £370 withmy install.mad or what

I once stalled my mate's Porsche 964C2 with him, his date and my girlf in the car... I had a Golf GTi Mk2 alongside me, dying for a Grand Prix start.

Luckily for me, he thought I had deliberately held behind to avoid a race, so he hung back waiting for me. Needless to say, I got alongside him, slowed to his pace, gave him a wave, and (given the benefit of a rolling start) nailed him by quite a margin.

Years ago I had a very old, very sh*t 911. It features in a few of my stories but...

At traffic lights in Sheffield. My red 911. Up pulls a white 911 same era. We look. We smile.

They expect.

Both of us pulled gently away from the lights whilst the two cars behind had to stand on the brakes to avoid smashing into us.

Sometimes restraint is such a virtue. I

From the Nova site

I KNOW IT SAYS NOT TO ASK STUPID QUESTIONS BUT! I HAVE A
14.SR NOVA, THE GARAGE I WORK AT HAS A WRECKED JAGUAR XJ12,
THE ENGINE IS OK AND I AM THINKING ABOUT MIXING THE FRONT
OF THE JAG INTO THE BACK OF MY NOVA. I KNOW IT SOUNDS
IMPOSSIBLE AND HALF-WAY THROUGH I WILL PROBABLY FIND THIS
OUT, BUT THE JAG HAS 285 BHP, THATS UNTUNED! I'M SURE IT
WOULD BE THE FIRST V12 NOVA! I ALSO THINK I'LL NEED A 747
WING TO KEEP IT ON THE ROAD!

Now, I have no idea what sort of pharamceuticals this kid is on but I think I want some

i'm going to try to do a 2 ltr 16v mid engined conversion, i know i'll lose the back seat but she'll stick to the road like shit to a blanket,
i've got a lot of homework to do as i'll be doing most of the work myself but i'm attached to the army air corps so their airframe tecs should be able to give me some help. i know i'll have to really blow out the arches sort of a mini intergra look to it. what do ya think buddy.

I think the shit word is ok

Guess what I've got??? front calipers from a 2 litre
cavalier, yup I was sprinting down the m8 when this baw sack in a transit vegie van pulled out in front of me so poor Colin here ended up sliding sideways... (very scary indeed!) lucky for me there was no damage done. Thats when I realised it was time, so I nipped down the scrappy and got my hands on some calipers for 20 quid

This is what worries me, the guy has taken a Nova SR (1.3 non injected) fitted a 1.6 GTE injected lump and says the brakes are standard

He has the important bits, like seat belt pads and lists his future intentions but still doesn't think he needs to improve on the standard braking system. Still I'm sure his insurance company had an engineer's report done when he told them about the engine swop.

I have a friend who works for Direct Line and they regularly browse through the M** P**** style magazines if they are bored to look at the cars then they ring up the owners and during the course of the conversation ask them if there are any modifications which they would like to disclose!.
She says 99% of these cars are insured as standard with no modifications, hence why they are all tarted up with spoilers and the like and then driven slowly through town centres with very noisy stereo's.
