Poor buggers. If this does go ahead, it simply means that they will warn of quakes every other bloody day.

When you compare our justice system with others it suddenly doesn't seem that bad. Bunch of loonies.

I would have guessed this might be in some backward lil country...it's Italybiggrin

"According to the Italian daily Corriere della Sera, Gargarella said that the seven defendants had supplied "imprecise, incomplete and contradictory information," in a press conference following a meeting held by the committee 6 days before the quake. In doing so, they "thwarted the activities designed to protect the public," the judge said. "

Does this mean that we can take the Met office and climate druid doom mongers to court? Afterall, there must have been multiple winter deaths due to them predicting that we'd see no more snow and have warmer winters? hehe

Not to mention certain flooding in the antipodies

Who has the key to the asylum?

Tried does not mean convicted though. I imagine they probably will not get put away. It may be a possitive thing.

The Italian system is very much based on prosecution - witness all the problems F1 team owners have had following fatal racing accidents.

I don't see how, it will simply prompt scientists to not reveal their findings. Consequently funding for research will drop along with the research itself. Totally nonsensical. Plus, their definition of manslaughter must be very different from ours, otherwise we'd probably be seeing Michael Fish coming out of prison any time soon.

Good point, wasn't the dam/resevoir kept full because climate 'scientists' advised that rain would become increasingly scarce?

Sorry guys, I didn't predict the earthquake either. I feel I must take my share of the blame for the deaths and put myself up for trial as well.

'Talking with Vidale, one gets the impression that predicting an earthquake would take a miracle, as there are so many unknowns'

People don't know this already?

Edukashun is clearly doing a great job with Italian prosecutors and judges and the like.

Same thing is happening with climate where more nucking futcases are on the legal trail over in the USA.
