Before I start, I am not looking for tips on improving my stroke (i'm resigned to the inevitable in that department) wink

Me and the missus are starting to try for baby _t and I'm looking for some well practiced PH advice! We've been together for almost 9 years and married for 1 (in August) and we have been talking for ages about raising a future chauffeur for the works Christmas do's. Until now, it's always been something that we just mention, crap ourselves at the possibility of it, and move onto enjoying a good nights sleep and regular pub visits.

It's now something that we've agreed we are ready to do. Holy st......

Has anyone here got any tips on concieving that have worked for you? Has your missus (or you) taken any vitamins/nutrients/pills that you found really worked? Is there anything I should be taking into account that could increase the count of my population paste? Are there things I should stop/start/carry on doing in my everyday life that might increase our chances?

I do know that there are probably better websites and people to be asking about this, and we are taking all the advice we can get, but if PH can teach me how to lay some armoured cable and properly lubricate a piston ring, then I figure it's a pretty good place to start!

It's got something to do with birds and bees but my mother never did explain herself very well. At school they showed me how to put a condom on a boiling tube so this is probably important.

I saved time and married someone who already had 3 children, but this probably doesn't help either.

It works best when you're not trying, buy a 2 seater sports car or a 1 bedroom penthouse, your seed will definatly sow then hehe

This has all the makings of a classic thread.

You don't need supplements, nature's on your side. Relax, it's not that hard to make a baby. Living with them afterwards is a whole different matter wink

You jest but I'm damn sure its true hehe, bought our MR2 4 years ago within a few months OH was pregnant!.
Op I always find that these things just happen, obviously make sure she's off the pill and just err well you know dip your dangle every now and then.
Don't stress yourselves over it either as I'm sure this is detrimental to the whole process close friends of ours were "trying" for years and it's only just happened for them.

Good luck and enjoy! wink

Cheers for the advice peoples!

The OH has just come off the pill (on Wednesday actually) after we made 'that decision' so fingers crossed some perseverance and a good deal of sexy time will do the trick!

I've heard of loads of people who have been unlucky for a long time but have started popping all kinds of suppliments (of some sort) and have almost instantly become pregnant - is the general concensus that this is purely a luck/timing thing, or are there things out there that can genuinely help?

It's worth knowing that the hormones can take a while to die down from the pill, but other than that just chill out and enjoy the ride, as many have already said. If you're not seeing results after 6 months or so then start investigating why.

There is a suggestion that certain supplements are helpful to the newly conceived baby - fish oils being one of them, and since it takes a while to realise she's conceived your OH can start taking them immediately instead. I'm sure a quick google will have your medicine cabinet full in no time.

One word of advice don't get fixated on conceiving otherwise every 28 days or so you can be in for a disappointment and a crashing low.

OP, don't panic if it doesn't happen for you straight away. Just enjoy it, have fun having sex and let things happen. If either of you start getting worked up over dates, period cycles, etc. it just just gets in the way and won't help the process.

Your missus should probably start taking folic acid supplements nowish, most of us in the UK are somewhat deficient and it increases the chance of certain birth defects. Good luck! smile

Best thing to do is have another heart to heart and decide between yourselves that it's not for you and you are never, ever going to have kids.

You can then GUARANTEE that the next week your Mrs will be up the duff......

This is what I did and I think it helped

I lost weight for a few months before even trying to conceive during this time I stopped the pill, we just used condoms. It can take a few months for things to settle once off the pill.
I took pregnacare vitimans for conception
Reduced my alcohol intake to almost zilch
I ate more healthily (and started eating meat again)

My hubby also ate better ate cut his drink down a bit, he took vit supplements inc zinc

We used otc ovulation tests to get the timing more accurate, I was pregnant within two months of trying.

Now for all I know we could have been just as successful without doing the above but I wanted to try and provide a healthy start so I think the above was worth it and will do it again (if we can ever afford to try for another!!)

I should add I'm an older first time Mum (I was 36) and was warned it could take 18 months plus as a result once we started trying, I'm glad to say I proved them wrong!

Good luck smile
