Help – V8S Chassis Damage

Does anyone have the front chassis sub-assembly for a V8S. That’s the framework which hangs off the front of the Chassis and supports the bonnet mounts, fan, cowl and rad? Thanks in advance.

From memory it's a bar and two end plates, with a couple of brackets for the radiator mounts. I suppose it'd be quite a lot of work to fabricate from scratch if you weren't set up for it. Didn't David Gerald get all the jigs? Might be worth trying them if you haven't already.

Hi.
Is this to repair crash or rust damage, if it is rust you can remake that piece and weld it on, crash is different as you need to re jig the front end as you don't have a reference point to weld back on.

No it was TVR Car Parts and they still have then, I'm sure they could help, there are two other options I think, RT Racing Sheffield might have jigs and chassyman on here can make new chassis as he has for the M series cars. See below for his workshop.

Dont know but it was work in progress and they might noy have been fitted at this point

Blue arrows show the upper wishbone mountings

Red arrows show the upper spring / damper mounting.

The part the OP was asking about isn't part of the chassis: it's a radiator mounting frame that bolts on where the green arrows are.



OP - saw the photo of the damage on the other thread. Bad luck, you'll be lucky if you haven't twisted the chassis. Even if you haven't, I would say you're looking at the thick end of £3K there to replace and repaint the bonnet alone, unless you're lucky and can find a second hand bonnet, maybe in the right colour (or can repair / paint the bonnet you have).

That being a M series chassis ...they are hidden between the top 2 tubes and as such the pivot point is between them.

Are these the 2 stack off plates that are the top radiator mounts/fan mounts..IF so are they then same as the 2.9?
and mount via 4xM6 bolts to the chassis.

They're certainly similar, but I'm not sure they're identical. Reason for the uncertainty is that on my S2 the fan was a puller but on the V8 it's a pusher. So, given that difference, I wouldn't assume that everything else is identical.

Perhaps not the best photographs in the world

S2 Chassis which had the fan on the engine side of the radiator



S3 Chassis (which had accident damage) which had the fan in formt of the radiator



While the plate is damaged and bent back it appears to me to be the same as the S2

I agree, that mounting looks the same.

The other question is, though - is the plate that mounts to that the same, when some models had the fan behind the radiator, and later models had the fan in front? I think those might be different, since the fan is fixed to rods which in turn are bolted to those end plates.

Definatly different as the radiators have a different method of mounting a the top, early radiators had a socket later ones a 'top hat' thing
