Think you will find in real world consumption is about the same. 3.2 is underpowered for such big car so engine needs to be worked harder for descent progress.

Hi,

We run a V8 S and get on average 18 MPG.... had a Turbo too and got 12 MPG.

You will be on first name terms with most fuel station employee's !

Mike, I think the op drives it sensibly.lol. I used to see better than your figures. OK driven hard then your figure of 18 -12 is realistic. I used the Turbo ever single day for the B&B, once I got settled with it and stopped booting it just to feel a 3 tonne truck accelerate like a sports car, it started returning much better consumption figures.
TBH improved after my Revo Technik stage 2 tune, Turbo S IC,s and a Sports exhaust and cats. I cant remember what it did as standard as I had it tuned immediately after getting it. for a huge bit of kit I never had any problems with fuel, it was a;ll the other electrical faults it had. that's why I traded it in for a 911 Turbo.Ironically had the IVF worked we might have had to have a look at the Turbo S. IMHO its the Daddy and can be greatly modded.

V8S, on the computer 20.5 mpg over the last 3,000 miles. Cane it and it'll show 10mpg, on a motorway run 22/24mpg. Not great but could be worse, could be a diesel !

Amazing performance from a huge truck.... you got to put the fuel in to get the power out !

If you are even unsure about fuel economy don't bother.

Had my Cayenne off the road for two weeks whilst we refurbished the wheels, fitted some tyres and service etc...

Wife used one of our courtsey cars, BMW 320D and she put in £60 as opposed to around £220

I personally love the Cayenne range and think they do the job.

As for the boot space for a pram, yes they fit but if going away you may want to consider a roof box ! we have a baby daughter and we struggle to get everything in.

Good God, do you really struggle with just one child. We were trying to work out how we could use the 911 with a child. I thought the Cayenne would be brilliant. We only filled our Cayenne with B&B stuff. Never been able to have kids so don't appreciate fully what stuff you have to carry. I wont let Lorraine read what you have said as she wants one of those pish Chrysler 300C's. The ones that looks a bit like a Bentley.

You have not met my wife.....takes half the house out with us !

No seriously you do need some crap ! when you are all going away with luggage and baby stuff it gets tight.

I think there are a lot of other 4x4's out there with larger boot space.

I’m considering selling my Jag, 22 MPG does not sound far off what I currently get on the XJ (27-29 MPG). On the V8 models, what kind of MPG will I get at a steady 90mph (on a private closed road obviously)?

Our V8S does about 16mpg urban (lots of short journeys) and no more than 22mpg on a run. I've never seen 30mpg though! How did you manage that?

20 inch Porsche rims. I know where your coming form with the wife's packing. Us blokes just need stuff to keep clean and smell ok. The wife needs to take more shoes than I actually own and enough perfumes, that if used all at once would destroy the Ozone layer instantly.

thanks - interesting u reckon 3.2 would be similar to the v8 does the v8 come with much more kit ( 54/54 plate ). Its that or the sensible option of a 3 series diesal touring. used a discovery recently and the missus liked the fact we could put the pram in whole rather than taking everything out of it to fold it up. scary you only have 1 daughter like us and find it a tight fit!

I have a V6 and based in hindsight should have gone for the V8 the MPG are pretty similar and as someone else says it is underpowered (of course there are other running cost which are lower).

Personally I'm amazed that anyone could get 30 mpg from a V8. My best attempts have only returned 24/25 mpg? For urban/combined I'm looking at 20/21 generally.

However I did switch to it for the same reason as the OP and we had a week in Cornwall with our baby at Easter and it easily carried all of our luggage and baby stuff (admittedly, yes it was quite full but no need for a roof box)
