Handbrake

Hi All
Could somebody please put up a picture of how the handbrake sits at off and on, Mine looks as it will be straight up when on, I have this off another S but don't know if its a S1 or if they are all the same.

mine sits near enough horizontal when off - then depends on how many clicks to on - I try to adjust to two clicks (between 45 and 60deg)

Will do it like that I was thinking there was a differance between the S1 and the Sv8.

You want the cable tight enough that the handle doesn't run out of travel, but be wary of doing them up too tight. You need 2-3 clicks worth of slack in order for the self-adjuster in the calliper to work properly, and also to give you a decent leverage on the cable.

Whilst on the subject of handbrake adjustment I have tried to tighten mine a little today as I have 4 clicks and it is still not holding. Can any one tell me which way the adjuster should be turned when facing the front of the car. It is very difficult to get at above the diff. but it will move either way with the aid of a length of metal rod. I'm sure this is simple but I cant get my head round it!!

Mine used to be lower,right down along side the transmission tunnel when off, difficult to get hold of especially with gloves on, and about where it is now off when it was on (make sense ?)

There is a little arm the cable attaches to and this is splined onto the lever, its a pig to get at, alongside the gearbox, but can be taken off, moved round a spline or two and re-fitted to change the lever position.
