US Atheists are to hold parties in response to an evangelical broadcaster's prediction that Saturday will be "judgement day".

This event is called the 'Countdown To Back-Pedalling' party and is in Washington.

An atheist and entrepreneur from North Hampshire, Bart Centre, is enjoying a boost in business for Eternal Earth-bound Pets, which he set up to look after the pets of those who believe they will be raptured.

He has more than 250 clients who are paying up to $135 (£83) to have their pets picked up and cared for after the rapture.

They would be disappointed twice, he told the Wall Street Journal. "Once because they weren't raptured and again because I don't do refunds."

Good - these people need to be fleeced of their hard-earned £££'s (oops...$$$'s) so that they might be further 'enlightened' as to the true nature of reality.

They could be right you know. The numbers all add up. It would be well if you took precautions.

Anyone want their pets looked after?

I have heard that most Lambo owners will be rapturised and that they can't take their cars. I can take them for you for a small charge. As I am charging that must make me evil so I won't be rapturisated so I can look after your pride and joy while you are away/gone/whatever.

I'm waiting for all the people to start whizzing off into the sky, so I can plunder their stuff they leave behind.

Wife is by way of patriarchal ancestry. Whenever we visit "Norway" at Disney, I always tell her - "Look. It's your people..." ("Norway" employees tend to the tuetonic ideal in appearance) wink

...actually I was just trying to be politically correct. Don't want the worshippers of Norse Gods to be left out, you know.

Not long back from the morning constitutional so maybe behind the news headlines on this.

Did the atheists get a super-injunction?

Was there a set time for this rapture, or was it an all day affair? Predictions... Not really the forte of the nuttily religious, is it.

OR could it simply be that they are all going to hell regardless for believing such rapturous guff? Mane there is a rapture, and the vast, vast majority weren't chosen? Would they be annoyed if all the Jews went off instead of the Christians?
