Condensation under crystal after service
Discussion
Hi, I have a Tag Heuer Monaco, and recently sent it in for a much needed service at WOS at the Royal Exchange in the city.
After 8 weeks it came back fully serviced and with a replacement crystal as the old one had a chip in it (it's my daily wearer)
Took it home a happy bunny, but when I woke up the next morning after wearing it all night, noticed the was a small patch of condensation under the crystal. Took it staright back (I only work round the corner) and they have sent away again to be repaired.
What kind of damage could condensation do to an automatic, and how can I check that things have been done properly when it is returned?
I know it's not an ultra high end watch, but I love it and don't want it to die any time soon.

Do a search on here as I think the TAG service centre has a bit of a reputation for poor service. I'd take it back to WOS in the RE and tell them how unhappy you are. You have paid them a premium price for a service from an authorised service centre. Tell them that in turn, their (WOS's) service provider is letting them down. Servicing TH watches is the sole purpose of the TH service centre, so how can they possibly get it so wrong?
I'd play up the fact that it needs re-addressing, that you will be without your watch for another X weeks, you are worried about possible damage to the movement due to the condensation so what are they prepared to do to help you.
ETA - Sorry, I glossed over the point that you have already taken it back to them. What can you do to check it once you have it back? Check the time-keeping, check that the chronograph functions work correctly and counters reset to zero, check for further water/condensation ingress, condition of the case (scratches etc). Do this in WOS when you collect it again. I would still be tempted to point out the above too!

I did all that, and to be fair to WOS I could tell they were a bit mortified. They immediatley and without complaint booked the watch back in, even though the condensation had dissapeared by the time I got it to them. I am going in to collect the watch this afternoon, so will ask about an extended warranty or something. Well, I picked the watch up from WoS on the RE and they have assured me there are no issues. On thop of that they have, 1 - apologised (didn't expect that) and 2 - offered a free service in 12 months time to check that everything is running fine and to spot any issues, which they will fix for free.
I think they couldn't do much more than that and have to say am pretty happy. Against all my British expectations, good service. Well Done.
