After the crash. I know they keep the plane fastidiously so would be interested to know what went wrong. Eric - could a bird strike during aerobatics do this? There's often a few buzzards in the sky thermalling around that area.

Depends on what it hit I suppose.

It's a bit early to be speculating on the cause at this stage but 9 times out of 10 the cause will be something along the lines of a stall or stall/spin combination. It certainly looks like it pancaked in.

Slightly O/T, I got taken up in one of these over 50 years ago by my father who had a ppl at the time. At the time it was supposed to cure whooping cough!.... x000 ft with no oxygen! great - all I remember was it was bloody cold and when we landed ... I still had whooping cough

Back on topic.. hope everyone is ok. Will they rebuild it?

The description from an eyewitness, airframe distortion and the debris field all suggest it spun in. No sign of much forward momentum at impact.

Saw "Oily" in the air while driving home from camping yesterday. Must have happened a few minutes later. So so sad.

Very lucky there was no post impact fire or we would be looking at two fatalities...
