Stunning motor. Well done. I doubt you'll ever regret it until you sell it.

Picked up the car yesterday! Drove it down from Edinburgh stopping at York on the way.

Used about a tank on the way down (70Litres) and was traveling at 60mph most the way. Got about 31 MPG (UK) out of if which is not bad at all. OK so I was going slow... The next tank will show what it will really do MPG, probably 20ish, with the fuel prices are, I will need to stop driving, and go back to a diesel.

I am really nervous about driving it and have not started to enjoy it yet. Already had to go through a road narrowing and brushed the wheels against the bollard

Thanks for the chat Nigel the other day - I had a few things I needed to check , and since I got it I have a couple more....

- Not every time, but just after I start, and get going I get a warning on the DIC saying HIGH TYRE PRESSURE, LR.... On checking it on the DIC it says 60. Leave it for 30 secs and it drops back to normal 32-34. The tyres can either be Hot/Cold doesnt matter. But it is not every time. Always the same wheel. Any ideas.

- The handbrake pings back sometimes after raising it. (Just pulling it up again, seems fine after that)

- When filling the tank I have to invert the nozzel in to the tank or it cuts out too quickly, normal with C5's???

Any help much appreciated!

Sounds like a tyre pressure sensor problem on your left rear. I don't have them on the Z06, so not sure.

Regarding the filling it up, I know others have had this problem, it must be the angle you are holding youer nozzle!

Glad to hear you've got the car! The LHD thing will come with practice although the C5 is a wide car whichever side you sit! My response to your questions would be,

-Average 24mpg (auto)
-False high tyre pressure warnings are bog standard!
-I just use "park" rather than the handbrake so can't help. They check it at MOT though. (Handbrake adjustment is £150 as the hubs have to be dismantled. However yours might be as simple as a sticky ratchet on the hand lever.)
-Nozzle inversion is another standard feature!

Enjoy!

The nozzle thing is pretty universal and some of the pumps are set at ridiculous levels of sensitivity. Probably a splashback and pollution thing as they get ever stricter about escaping fumes. Try changing your garage as they irritate the feck out of me and I boycott them for that reason alone.

The pinging handbrake is stock. Exactly the same on my Z28. I take it you apply it correctly by pulling up with the button depressed and not "ratcheting" it on. You think it's on and then "Ping". I think it's just the design allows it to move to the side and slip off the ratchet.

DO use the handbrake even if you have an auto. It will keep the cables in operation and the tiny shoes inside the rear disc won't seize up. It's asking for trouble not using the handbrake.

No I ratchet it up. I will try it by pressing the button. Still it only happens now and then.

Sorry guys you just dont have the knack or the B pack I guess. I got the B pack for my 2001 and never have to invert the nozzle

Nope its a B-Pack - electric seats, hud, electric mirror, 12 cd, etc...

It was only at Sainsburys it had to be inverted, at Shell it was OK. Mind you it does hang out quite far if you don't invert it. Also I have only re-filled twice so I cant be sure what will happen next time!

Nozzle inversion varies pump to pump. I hope that by now you have had to fuel up more than twice so have got some practice - and miles on the clock!

Those all sound pefectly normal features to me ! I fill up with the nozzle at 90 degrees to vertical but then I always have to be different...
