On route up North ready to drop my car in at TVR Power in the morning for 12k service,, clutch and a few other bits. Taking it easy as the clutch is on its last legs. Engine was running really nice. Stop off at a mates on route. His dad was giving me a bit of stick over the car, and I'd told him apart from the clutch it was running really well. I then get back in the car, start it up and it sounds like I have a sewing machine under the bonnet. Jinxed!!!

I was just round corner from Fernhurst Motor Company, so had them take a listen. The general opinion is that one of the tappets is in need of some attention. Hopefully not time for a rebuild.

So I'm now taking a 130 mile tow truck ride to TVR Power.

Oh, dear. A rebuild just as it was being delivered to TVR Power. Y'know, them wot does engine upgrades.

I really couldn't afford a rebuild at the moment. I'm getting married in 2 months and final payments are all due this month. So cash is a bit tight. Would have to wait until after the wedding which would a summer with no car.

Well on inspection, the worst has been confirmed!

The end of one of the spark plugs had broken off and got stuck in one of the valves. Bending the valve and smashing the shim out of the top.

So a rebuild is needed! If only I had it serviced 50 mile ago this wouldn't of happened.

The T350 is having an extended stay at Doms for a full rebuild. So will be nice and fresh when I get it back.

You and me both! I'm getting married in July (well, reception in July and religious ceremony end of this month!) and mines in for a rebuild + clutch change! Could have done without either tbh!

Mines July 9th. Was bad enough when the clutch needed doing just before the wedding. Then a rebuild. Think the tiv must be jealous it wasn't getting all the attention so decided to throw its toys out of the pram.

I only let Fernhurst listen to it. There was no point them taking it apart to fully diagnose the problem.

Wow.. sorry to hear about this!

Any idea when the spark plugs were last changed? I've never heard of the end of a spark plug breaking off (anyone?) so its a fairly unusual reason for a rebuild.
