This morning I've been trying to change the faded and generally manky badge on the front of my housemate's 156 for a shiney new one.

Cant get the old one off and trying any harder looks like it will damage the grille.

I dont suppose anyone has any advice / ideas / suggestions?

Aren't they bolted through the grill? You need to remove the complete grill, only three 10mm bolts. Then (from memory!) you have to prise off the back.

Unbolt the grille, remove from bonnet, then carefully lever out the badge from its circular recess in the grille.
Put some cloth or material over the edge of the recess (which is plastic) or the levering will cause an indentation.

They don't come out very easily as they're glued in.
Worth it though, a new badge looks splendid.

I've got a 2005 156 and the badge has faded already.
