Evening all, I thought I'd post a quick question up here for the Italian car experts to give their opinions. I've discovered an ancient (D reg 1987) aircooled rwd 650cc Fiat 126 by FSM with 30k miles , stored in the garage of an abandoned house. I was viewing the property as it is to be auctioned later this month.

The car was last taxed in 1998, and appears to have been 'dry' stored in the garage since then.
So my question is; Would this be worth restoring?, as I've been thinking about making an offer to the owner before the property (+car!) is sold.

Admittedly it is rusty in a few places (one arch/top of bonnet/front window surround), but nothing I cant tackle with a welder.

Googled restored 126 and this one got me thinking:

Here's the car :shudder:

These dont fetch good money im afraid - in very good roadworthy nick you might expect a grand, watercooled versions fetch even less.

That said, someone out there will want to fix it up or at the very least make use of it, so its a better option than it going to the scrapper.

Thanks, I thought as much - it would be a different story if it was an old 500.
I'll ask over on the owners club forum - I couldn't believe there was one either!
