Trading up/down to a Spider 3.0 V6 24v
Discussion
I have a 3.0 GTV and am still learning about them but I'll have a go....
Squeaking from the rear suspension usually means the bushes are worn, though the 3.0s have uprated rose joints which I think wear less.
Engines very strong, as long as services have been done and belts changed (I think the interval for the 3.0 is 72k/5 years, most people I spoke to reccommended half that. Thermostats can tend to stick open, mine did this and would run at 70 degrees on the motorway and 90 in town, should be 80-90 all the time when warmed up. £15 part and about 10 minutes to fit.
Theres allsorts otherwise, but I've just remembered this which details things far better than I have.... http://www.alfaowner.com/Forum/alfa-gtv-and-916-sp...
Its a very good forum too for help and advice.
Cheers

This should give you an idea of what to look for: http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...
No1 take a look here http://www.sportsalfa.com these people know everything there is to know about Spiders and GTVs.
No2 - I'm on my second one having upgraded from a 2.0 to a 3.0 a few years ago and we've had few problems. The only recurring weak spot seems to be the motor for the electrically operated hood. Other than that they are great cars...
Mine has special 18" wheels, lowered suspension and a sports exhaust
