My dealer has just informed me that Prodrive are assisting Alfa with a more sporty Brera for launch in the autumn. Anyone heard anything?

Sort of - I heard that exact rumour in April 2007, for launch in Autumn '07.

Could be good if it's true. smile

My guess is a tart up and some prodrive bits.

They are nice but my wife's spider feels like its made of lead. I love the new Alfa's and I am nearly there on buying a 3.2 brera but I have to say the Evo X is more tempting.

From what I can gather it will be a tart up - like the Prodrive RX8 - rather than a huge performance enhancer. wink Expect Recaro seats, fancy wheels etc rather than weight loss and +50bhp.

But Ive got a seriously quick Noble as well, so the Evo X will just be an introduction to prison food and im not fond of soap on a rope......

I ran a 3.2 Brera for 18 months, & whilst i found the car hugely disappointing, i could not argue that it wasn't fast, smooth & quiet, almost dangerously so at times biggrin

Stick with the Golf Gti then.

If you want to use the Brera for what it's designed for - stylish, comfortable, well equipped grand touring, go for the JTDm. It suits the car, it's mid range is effortless (25% more torque than the V6) and although the ecomomy is not great it's the best of an uneconomical bunch.

If you are expecting GTi/Evo levels of driver involvement then the Brera is not going to tickle your fancy I'm afraid, although the 2008 cars have proper seats at last!

Similar to the ones in the 159Ti's according to the dealer near me. The Ti's have nicest seats I've seen in any Alfa, including my GTA.
One problem fixed then, just a few more to go Alfa......

I might be in the market for a Brera/Spider in a few months, I will have to test drive the new version.
