Hi all, name's Aston....(yes really)

I've been lurking here a while, and looking at my first Alfa in a couple months (147/156) 2.0 or GTA, cash permitting.

(Had a dream last night about driving a Autodelta turbocharged 2.0 TS with an LSD - is that normal?) hehe

I'm fully statted up on how it they go etc (ie well)...and they are only the really pretty cars out there but...

Selespeed. This has been well and truly gunned down here, there and everywhere. Is it really that unreliable?? Are the critics not using it properly (ie ease of the throttle when changing up, it is a robotized MANUAL after all)

Or...

Is it simply rubbish? Whats the downshift like??

I have to admit I like the idea of having an automatic mode, and a manual that holds onto revs...

Comments and opinions greatly recieved guys and gals....

There isn't a barge pole long enough for me....any car that runs the risk of suddenly losing power at 70mph in the fast lane is not worth owning imho.

However, I know of two owners who have never had a bit of trouble....there's time yet wink

I too have heard of some issues with the early versions of the software, but personal experience of three and a half years and 64000 miles of reliable selespeed enjoyment in my GT cant be all bad.

p.s
Hi Wrinx, hope you are well? Hows the dissertation going? best regards Leigh

By no means a definitive answer, but how many cars do Alfa currently supply with selespeed gear boxes? I think that tells you everything you need to know.
