Quick question on behalf of my boy.
He has a 53 plate Punto Active sport and bent an alloy off a kerb. He got a set of brand new Grande Punto alloys which seem to have a slightly different offset but the main problem is a ridge in the hole in the centre of the wheel which stops it sitting flush with the wheel. Is it OK to grind/file this ridge off to enable the wheel to sit OK?

the offset will be 100 on the gp alloys and not the 98 that fiat / alfa / lancia were using (like on his punto) to get the wheels bolted on safely you need wobbly bolts (can get these through alloy wheel retailers, motorworld etc try www.rochfordtyres.co.uk ) they have a moveable collar that allows the bolt to do up tightly and straight while the collar sits off centre but fits the wheel hole perfectly.

as for the ridge, im not too sure what you mean on that one? the only thing i can think of is that the centre bore is different? (not to sure what the cb of the gp alloys are)

The centre bore is the same apart from this ridge which sits on the inside of the hole. It's about 4mm wide and high.

Would it be OK to use spacers rather than machine the wheel?
