I've done it, bought a Fiat 500 this afternoon without even having driven one.

Drove a Panda 100, the sales manager who has driven a 500 syas the 500 handles better, which is nice.

Just have to decide a spec now.

Cool.

I'm having one of them as well. Whats the deposit, and do you think any dealer will take a deposit?

Have you got a spec in mind?

All the best.

£500 pound deposit, I'll be asked to spec it in about 2 weeks.

All dealers are taking orders, Simonstone in Bristol had an allocation of 20 from the initial run, all 20 have now sold (I was number 20)

When are you expecting delivery? I presume there was no room to negotiate on the price?

There is no movement on price at all.

The Pop is £8000, the Lounge around £9500 & the Sport starts at £10800.

At least that's what the dealer has promised me.

To give you an indication of prices over here on the continent, 500 Pop prices go like this €9500 for the 1.2 , €10,500 for the 1.4 and €12,500 for the 1.3Mjet (diesel) The local fiat dealer seems to be turning them over pretty quickly although I've only seen a couple out on the road so far.

You have no idea how happy that makes me.

I have been reading stories about £11k for a base model after I oredered mine.

What spec are you going for?

I've gone for a basic 1.2 Pop. I was asked to specify the colour when I placed the deposit (I've gone for white) with the rest of the spec to be confirmed when we get the build date. I've been told to expect a welcome pack from Fiat in the next week or so.

What have you gone for?

I too had heard the 11k stories, but the prices you have been quoted sound much more like it!

Still managing to resist visiting a dealer, thank god there are none close by.
Maybe, I can hold off taking a trip over to one until we know more about the Abarth version...

Im unsure on colour at the moment. I'm going for the 1.2 Pop also.

I'm torn between

1. dark non metallic blue, with the blue & white seats with the bumper & bonnet chrome.

2. Dark grey (brownish tinges) with black & grey seats & bonnet & bumper chrome.

3. White with red Abart style stripes with red & white seats.

Mmm not sure, it's not really a grey sort of car, I saw a black one with a red stripe in italy and it looked yum . It looks cool in cream/white too, imo.

Yeah, I'm not sure either.

I feel everone will go for white.

I'm down to

1. White with the Italian flag on the front wings, red & white seats

2. Dark solid blue with the chrome bits on, Blue & white seats

3. Dark solid grey with the chrome bits on, Black & grey seats thant don't really match.

I was set on the grey, now I'm split between the white & the blue.

You know this topic has actually annoyed me. I have had a deposit on the fiat 500 for around two or three months and a deposit on an audi for about 6/7months and neither seem to have a clue or be bothered about getting in touch to keep me up to date. Thanks for posting so much info. I will be moving both orders to other dealers who I have spoken to who seem much more interested in my money as initially I felt a little guilty about it but quite frankly this highlights their piss poor attitude towards customer service.

BTW Black outside is cool but I think inside needs to be a lighter colour especially for resale as it will be quite gloomy.

I (think) I have made my mind up at last, after several evenings searing Google for photos I may know what I want.

I think it's going to be Jive Blue, Chrome trim on bonnet & A bar pack with coloyr coded mirrors (elctric with defrost & temp sensors). Blue fabris & Ivory seats (white steering wheel etc) with blue tooth & Ipod kit.
