Yesterday I was going a run in the car. (Alfa 166)

Now the car sounds fantastic!

I think its because the top engine mount was worn and this has caused the exhaust to be damaged.

Questions were could I buy a top engine mount? What part of the exhaust is likely to be damaged?

I love the sound I think exhausts are over rated.

Engine mount - any breaker on ebay or new from a dealer. Can't see it being an aftermarket part.

No idea about where the exhaust is likely to have gone, possibly the flexi...best get your head under there and have a look wink

Thank you for replying. I had given up on this thread.

I have got a top mount from the Alfashop in Norfok for £25+vat very nice folk and it arrived the next day. Only to find the thread of the bolt to the engine mount had mashed and not wanting to bodge the job I and now waiting for a new bolt costing 66P that has to be shipped from italy!

I have been advised that it is likley to be the front (or down) pipes that have cracked. I cannot get under the car to confirm this.

I have found this site filled with yummy alfa (and other) parts

http://www.buypartsby.co.uk

I am now trying to stop myself buying these (don't know if they are better or worse than the standard brakes (which need replacing on mine) but I want tham!) biggrin

They look good, price seems a little steep for my liking but it may be competitive. Also try www.shop4parts.co.ukwink

Glad to be proven wrong about sourcing the engine mount, wouldn't have thought Alfashop would stock parts such as that biggrin

Bit of a pain about the bolt, do you have any idea about the thread size? It should be a common metric size, available from any fasteners shop if you get desperate...take the old one down to be sure.

I got my new top link from the Alfa shop in Norwich It cost £25 + vat + £6.50 next day delivery (Norwich to Glasgow). So £38 pounds or there about. It was a much stronger version than the standard part. (But its not so pretty!)

I also found the thread on the blot had been mildly mashed. I don’t know if mine had been over tightened or if it became damaged with the free play. So in might be worth ordering new bolts with it. They only cost 66P and took a week to get here!
