Howdy folks been lurking for a while now so just a quick note to say I picked up by new Brera yesterday. Its a missano blue 2.4JTDm and I went for the 18' teledial wheels, black/grey leather and blue and me.

I came from an A3 2.0 TDI S-line and whilst it was a good car before that I had a Alfa 147 2L and...well fancied another Alfa. Don't get me wrong I loved the A3 but fancied a change and the brera seemed to tick most of the boxes for me.

I know a few of you on here have one and some love it and others well not so much but I am looking forward to getting to know the car and cannot wait til I get home this evening to take it out for a drive.

Cheers Wombat...Silver is very nice (nice como with tobacco) though that was the same colour as my 147 so went for blue instead. How do you find the 2.4? Mine has 200 miles on it what mileage does it loosen up at?

It's a bit laggy after my old Sportwagon - that was a 10 valve 2.4 - but once it's up and running it goes much harder. Mine's on 10,000 miles now and it does need a few thousand to loosen up. Same goes for the gearbox too. Mine was very notchy with delivery miles on it. I got rid of my Sportwagon at 50,000 and the engine was getting better all the time, so I suspect this one will be the same.

The 2.4 in the 159Ti has 210bhp which is neither here nor there but it has a very different torque curve so I think they might have "ironed out" the low down lag. I'm trying to find out if it's just a simple remap that could be retro fitted but I'm not getting very far...

Enjoy it!

Thanks for that...I had a quick look at your profile so I think its fair to say you have a thing for Alfa's.

I was aware the 159 had 210 ( since June '07) and was told any brera's ordered after September will come from the factory with 210...I would not have thought there would be a large (or any difference) in the way power is delivered but...its gonna do me very nicely anyway.

Yup!

I know there's a lot of blah blah talked about them, but they do seem to really grab you!! (Or else people have one, then run a mile, never to be seen again...)

Ah! That's interesting. Hadn't realised that. Yes, the power is up 10bhp and the torque remains the same - but comes in from 1,500 so you shouldn't have the annoying lag I have below about 2,000 revs. Excellent!! I must pursue it further!!

cheers euroboy must say that Red was very much on my mind, its lovely on the spider really sets it off...will investigate the P Box further as its not something I have heard of previously. For a diesel the engine note sounds good certainly better than the 4 pot 2.0 TDI Audi which was very noisy on start up though was grand once it got going...It had a DSG box as well so I was lazy and have to get used to manual box again look forward to some decent drives and working on loosening the engine.
