People with 156 JTD's regularly report over 40mpg average (never managed it myself though rolleyes ). Servicing is every 12,000 miles with the 72,000 mile one being the biggy. Tax disk is £165. Good cars. Great engine. Well recommended.

My GTA does 30+mpg on a long run, town driving drops this down to low 20's.

So if your worried about mpg, look at the 2.4. It will also have similar power characteristics to your Holden. The GTA needs revs to feel quick.

Have a look here for more info on both - www.alfaowner.com

I have a late 2.4JTDm - I believe the 20v multijets like mine are more efficient despite bumping power to 175bhp. I get about 45mpg in mixed driving, if it's mainly motorway it's rare I'll dip below 50mpg. I do similar mileage and it's great for the job.

Assuming 20mpg difference and 95p/litre for petrol, 97p for diesel, the JTD will cost £1400 less to fuel over a 25000 miles.

Servicing - some are cheaper, some more expensive than petrol. Over 72k miles, there's about £20 in it at alfaworkshop prices.

are there any suspension and tuning kit for the 2.4?
also really like the gta interior - anything similar in the diesel?

The 2.4 can be remapped seemingly to oblivion and suspension, brakes, wheels are all upgradeable. The only difference on the GTA interior is the seats and a darker "metal" effect for the dash - it's dark grey as opposed to silver. If you can find a 2.4 with the optional Recaro sports seats they are exceptionally comfortable and supportive and perhaps more practical day to day than the GTA buckets. They are standard on the Ti model...

Mine has those (I think a £1500 option for the original owner!)

Pretty comfy, nice and supportive too.

tidy looking interior :-)

just need to sell the hsv now - easier said than done as the market for 180MPH 500bhp+ 4 door cars is a bit limited.... yes everything feels slow in comparision unless its RS4 M5 etc....still its just petrol and back tyres which is costly on it - servicing is £100 - oil and filters :-)
