I'm thinking of getting a little run around while my Tuscan is a) at the garage being fixed and then b) for the time between selling it and finding a suitable replacement, and want something cheap yet fun.

The Punto Sporting has caught my eye, and seems like a good car for the money, as well as looking good and pretty quick.

Ideally, I'd get an ex-demo car, but can't see any in the spec I want (1.4 turbo in Orange) on the Fiat site. I specced a new one up on there, and it came to £13.5k - does anyone know what sort of discount dealers would give on this, and how long they take to order?

Also, what are they like to drive and live with? Are they pretty solid and reliable?

Ive got the 1.9JTD Sporting and its been a great car! much better build and grown up than the old one (quick too) Think fiat are doing 0% finance at some places which works out cheaper than finacing an ex demo.

Hello, I have a Cerbera 4.5, and my son has a run grande punto 1.4 sporting, I drive it now and then, and its a great car. It really gets the looks! Have had it 4 months with no problems at all, 5 star NCAP rating so its safe. I say its the best runaround out there, and its Italian biggrin Hope you get one!

We've a panda 100HP paid just under 9K for it with metallic paint picked it up on 1st september and love every mile.

Spot on, although the ride can be a little harsh on occasion.

The diesels off better economy, but the smiles per mile on the 100hp is brilliant.

The Grande Punto's are damn good FIAT are finally back doing what they do best well!

The diesels are really hard to get hold of especially nearly new..

It will be intresting to see where they put the new 1.4 tjet next as this is a stonking powerplant.

Simes.

Sounds good! Thanks for the comments so far!

Any idea if dealers will be discounting the 1.4 TJet version?

Fiat dealers will always give some kind of financial incentice either a discount or finance deal. Its best to shop around. I got £500 off with 3 years 0% finance! you could probably gey better but I was pretty happy as there was a 3 month waiting list at the time and I managed 4 weeks.

Pwig - what's the lump on the black roof on some of them? Is it a glass roof? Why the bump? I saw an orange one cool with a black roof. Looked great!

There are huge discounts (in the region of 20-25%) available from internet brokers. I looked on a Fiat forum and one which came up as recommended was fiatsupasaver.com.

have only driven a JTDm Sporting so far, but the quality and refinement is far superior to my Mk2 JTD. Go for it, and with regards to discounts, the only Fiat you won't get a discount on is a new 500, anything else should be up for grabs!
