Fiat punto gearbox.

My girlfriend's car gearbox spat it content yesterday on the road. It had 5 speed box, but i would like to "upgrade" to 6 speed box, I wonder if 6 speed box can fit onto 1108cc FIRE engine?

if its the 1108 fire engine im guessing its a mk1 punto

in that case the mk1 (a 1.2) iirc came with a 6 speed gear box, the gearing is actually woeful mind and the 5 speed is better

the mk2 6 speed should fit, i am currently using a mk1 60 sx gear box on my 1242 bravo and teh 6 speed from the mk2 punto fits (1242 sporting), its just that the linkage tray would need adapting to fit in my trans tunnel. once ive resolved the deadness of the engine my next project is the 6 speed conversion if i decide to keep the car, ive done all the ground work and research, just not bought any of the bits or attempted to fit them
