Brera 3.2 Q4 Worth Repairing
Discussion
I have a 3.2 Q4 Qtronic Brera, owned it for years, love it, and it now has over 160k on the clock. It has started to succumb to the dreaded drive shaft clunking, on line research shows this as potentially terminal as parts are nla, and the bearing/universal is non serviceable. I'd prefer to have it repaired but in reality the car is worth buttons. Opinions?
I’m sure one of the Alfa specialists can change the bearings in the box now instead of replacing the whole unit, I’d hazard a guess at Alfa Workshop ???
Not a Brera fan personally but I’ve saved an Alfa before that wasn’t economically viable but to me it was worth it…guess only you know.

If it's any help, the driveshaft of my Q4 159 was refurbished, albeit it had to be sent off to Italy. I can get the details if you're interested - the guy I sold it to had it done under his ownership.
Alternatively, I know the owner of another Q4 159 and he had his done in this country and it was fitted with serviceable bearings. Again, I can possibly get the details.
Lastly, years ago I was given the details of a drive-shaft refurb place near Birmingham. A quick google search has flagged up a company called Ultimate Recon - it might have been them. I think AlfaShop in Norwich gave me the details, it might be worth giving them a call and asking.
I bought my Qtronic Q4 159 in 2017, sold it in 2021, new owner had prop-shaft reconditioned, I bought it back from him in 2023, sold it again in 2024, new owner had new cats and suspension refreshed along with a new air conditioner compressor and on Friday I'm buying it back from him. If I carry on selling and buying back I'll end up with a completely rebuilt car.
It's fair to say I absolutely love the car and should never have sold it.
