Evening all.

A couple of days ago I noticed my Alfa Giulia 2017 was making a clicking/ticking sound seemingly from my front driver's wheel when turning right. Not on full lock but medium turn such as a roundabout (CV joint possibly?). I also noticed this week that my horn takes a fair few presses (6-7) to make a sound.

Now because my MOT/Full service was booked in today I let it be. I was going to mention it upon drop off this morning but fell ill in the night and so my Mrs dropped it off for me and 'forgot' to mention either issue.

The car passed with flying colours bar advisories on some break pads.

My questions are, should the garage have noticed a worn cv joint or similar (if that's what it is) upon MOT/Full Service inspection? Could it be something simple making the noise? Also, I was under the impression a faulty horn is an automatic fail? Unless against the odds they pressed the horn and it decided to work first time, although as stated I've tried it several times this week and it took several presses.

I have a friend who is a mechanic who can look at it for me but is away for a month, so I'm wondering if it's safe to drive. I know the horn at the very least needs to be looked at.

It's a big brand garage by the way, so I wouldn't have thought they'd cut corners?

Any input appreciated, thanks.

It’s a Giulia, it won’t have CV joints on the front! ( it’s probably something caught in the disc backing plate)

If the horn works when it’s pressed, it passes, they won’t keep checking it in case it doesn’t

Don’t assume a big brand garage won’t cut corners….. they are probably more likely too!
