Been having a few issues in trying to source the right sender and fitment for oil temp for my GTA type homage.
It's an early 1300 gt junior originally, at some point the car was restored and converted to a nice fast road spec gta type car. 2 litre Nord fitted, 4 gauge dash with veglia gauges including oil pressure and temp. No oil light I'm aware of.
I've had a rebuilt 2 litre done up and hit a slight snag. I didn't retain the original engine bottom end (long story but scrap) however I now need to adapt the oil temp sender I bought from classic Alfa to fit the later 2 litre Nord And I'm being informed the oil take off point near the filter housing is threaded at m10x1mm as for an oil pressure switch which was common on later cars perhaps?
The new sender for temp is m16x 1.5mm and is OE spec in length etc.

Obviously two ways to resolve would be a machined adaptor (brass often used) but no one seems to use m16 into m10 directly.
Other option is an alternative oil temp sender in m10 fine thread, with the correct impedance and curve for my veglia gauges.

So far I've drawn a blank as to why this has come up, and which sender might work in m10. I can't be the first person to hit this snag surely?
I don't want to drill and tap the oilway in my brand new rebuilt block or in the sump. My old engine obviously had some means of sending oil temp to the dash from the oil filter area as the wiring connector (single spade) is there.

I do have a brand new pressure sender for the oilway neat the starter, so that's sorted, I just need to sort the oil temp as is like to retain a working dash gauge.

I've bought an aftermarket m10 sender from eBay which when it comes I will test for impedance against a stock sender on a calibrated heat source but I'd like to understand what I should have seen/known before we got rid of the other bottom end.

Scrap both.

Option 3....

Get yourself a 123 bluetooth electronic ignition distributor.
Firstly it’s a damn good upgrade from points. And you can tune the ignition to suit the set up of the car.

But the primary reason for posting this as a solution. In the bottom of the 123dizzy, is an oil temp sensor. Which is displayed on the phone display dashboard.

See below.

I use this all the time when driving the car, as the oil temp is bottom right. Volts and amps on the bottom left, advance top left, refs in the centre, but in the centre is also a GPS read of true speed.

PS, another function is an immobiliser. PIN activated, it means no one can start your car. This is optional.

I've got a basic 123 dizzy! I don't want to scrap the original gauge , that's not what I'm after at all.
An adaptor will sort this at a push, however I'm just wondering why the issue has come up and what others have done previously.

Did you ever solve this? I have a 2l Nord in my Sprint GT Veloce and I'd like to have the oil temp gauge working. Interested to know if you found a solution.

Think I ended up with a machined brass adaptor. A while ago now and since sold the car after 4yrs of fun with it.
