Bilstein B8 Dampers - Camber Question
Discussion
Recently had new B8's and H&R springs fitted to my punto.
The front dampers are of the fixed camber variety with just two holes for the usual hub to strut mounting.
Took the car for an alignment and whilst the caster and toe are okay and the steering wheel is bang on centralised she does randomly pull to the left or the right depending on road surfaces plus the handling once turning in begins to feel very understeery and generally its not a planted ride at all. In the straight ahead im constantly adjusting her to go straight whereas on the old knackered suspension she was fine.
The alignment printout sheet shows that the camber is out of spec. at 1 deg 30 mins both sides when the maximum negative camber should be 1 deg 20 mins. I cant adjust the camber but is it worth removing the dampers and opening out the upper strut mounting holes into slots so that the alignment shop can then adjust the camber into spec? Or should I avoid this idea and replace the Bilsteins with a damper that has slots as standard?
