They (autolusso) know their stuff, the ad says that it was owned by Ned who runs/owns autolusso. I would imagine it's as good as a 147 GTA gets.

Seems a good one, what makes these cars so special?

The best V6 engine ever built in a two door hatch.
Try it, if you don't get it you never will, hand in your card on the way out.

That one looks lovely. I like how it does not have the tan seat centres too.

Does look great but can imagine they are expensive in service parts and labour?

Brilliant cars, but not cheap to run. Sound unbelievable, still look great today and with a few suspension mods can handle very well too. Also they just feel better than any other hatch I've driven. I sold mine a couple of months ago, spent £10k on maintenance & upgrades in 3.5 years before selling, still kinda regret selling it!

The one I'm looking at is owned by Ned at autolusso , upgraded suspension, q2, many things done to it.

Just worry about servicing, parts etc ?

I sold mine over 3 years ago and wish id kept her in the garage.

Fairly regular cam belt and tensioner changes and a water pump upgrade to the metal impeller type are the main things to keep on top of.

Some make a big issue over the 305mm brakes warping but i never had any trouble in 5 years with mine but Alfa did upgrade to 330mm for owners that had problems.

ARB bushes are a bit of a weak point but an hour on a ramp and my brother and i had replaced them with upgraded parts and the ARB can stay in place while its done.

One thing that the buyer picked up on that i had missed on my own car was that there were early signs of corrosion on the tailgate at the bottom of the glass.

If it came back up for sale i would be very tempted to buy her back if your listening David laugh

Not sure if serious...
Can I suggest you might be happy with a 'nice' little Honda or a Nissan maybe?
You don't buy an Alfa with your head, you buy it with your heart. The questions you are asking repeatedly suggest this is the wrong car for you.

My GTA was one of the most reliable cars ive owned to date.

One failed battery (it was around 7 years old) and the bloody heated seat switches were my only real problems.

I agree, if you are worrying too much about the costs do not buy it. Buy something more sensible/newer/better reputation.

I love the look and sound of the GTA's but for the money I would find it hard to justify over an e46 M3. Hence I have never owned one. There are loads of threads on the running costs. Some people find them reliable and others do not, as with all cars its a risk.

I notice you did a similar thread on the R32. Buy that instead if you are worrying about big bills.

Oh and you did one on an S2000 and TVR 400 too.

Just bought a 147 GTA myself and its a wonderful driving experience. The one your looking at has had the essential, in my opinion, Q2 diff fitted. Being a late model it would have had the necessary 330mm brakes from the factory. Its got a great history and if its had a recent cambelt change and a metal impellor water pump fitted it should be fine. With that provenance its got to be worth more than a look, go for it and enjoy.biggrin

Hi,

I took a admittedly superficial look at this car a couple of weeks ago. I was at Neds (the owner of the car) Autolusso garage having some suspension work done to my GTV.

The car looked very nice and had great non-faded paintwork. I saw the car up on a lift and underneath looked clean and tidy. The car looks to have been well looked after and the owner said any issues thrown up would be sorted before a sale. While I was there a guy took it for a short test drive and came back with a big smile on his face.

As others have said, the owner is an Alfa expert and in my opinion runs the most professional Alfa specialist garage. I'd consider it if I didn't already have me own V6.

Also, life is short...

If you have to ask what makes them so special, you really need to just go and have a look at one.

Take a test drive and then you will definitely know what is special, especially given this one has the Q2. That, or a Quaife is pretty much a must have on these cars.

This is also one of the last years of production to get the fabulous Busso V6. Only the GT had it for a few years longer, albeit not badged as a GTA.

Mine was bought 18 months ago, for similar (strong) money, and in doing so i have avoided a lot of expensive bills. I would still budget up to a grand a year to properly maintain it, and for those unforseen failures that can unfortunately afflict many a 10yr old modern car. It's not unheard of for ECU's to fail for example.

With this example i would factor in about £600 to do a cambelt soon. In my opinion it is not worth stretching to the 5yr replacement interval.

Go and see it. I very much doubt you will be dissappointed!
