Hello all

I have now added an Sl500 R129 to my garage!
I was considering chopping my Cerbera in for a late XKR convertible but after a drive in the TVR last night, I decided I could not part with it!
So the hunt was on today for a cheapish summer car and i have found a lovely 96 SL for sale locally. Snapped it up for 5K - all I need now is a hard top

What I need to know is which classic insurers you guys recommend and what sort of price can I expect for 3000 miles per year?

Any advice appreciated

Simon

Peter Best worked for me.

£280 for a 230 SLK inc breakdown as standard.
Nobody else wanted to touch a '99 car as a 'classic' unless it was three times the price.

Welcome!

I only pay £400 for an ordinary fully comp policy from Admiral. 15,000 miles a year and business and commuting use. Loads of hardtops on ebay; probably worth waiting for one on the right colour.

Bell insurance are worth a look, I pay about £500 with them for fully comp business class 1, 9000miles per year, not that I do that so will cap it lower this year. Bell are also in cahoots with Admiral so play them off against each other. I would expect you would be quite a bit cheaper than that.

Best advice is get the roof down and enjoy! (oh and ladies love the draught stop!) Most queries can be answered here or at www.mbclub.co.uk
