T.V. Tuner Info

Hi.
I have a very high spec 05 clk 320 sport.
It has a tv tuner, but in the Command hand book they is no info on it at all.
I have spoken to my local Mercedes parts dept & they can't find any hand book for it.

My queston is, should they be seperate hand book for the tuner ? Or does anybody have any info
on it That I could copy, As i think it could do with retuning & I don't know how the memery works on it.

Got any idea how to keep the DVD player on whilst driving...kids get really annoyed when we get going after starting to watch the beginning of Tranformers for the umpteenth time...

I'm sure some one on here will know the deffinate answer.
But I think on the older models this could be by passed, but on the newer ?
Its all about safe driving.

Are you sure your tv tuner (ie. the TV button) actually does anything; most UK cars don#t actually have the tuner - mine does and there's no way you need a manual to work it.

Yes the tv does work,
But it seems strange they is no info on how the small soft keys work ?

It used to be possible to bypass this using STAR.

Not sure I'd want to do that, though, in case you had smash and it was on at the time. Crash investigators and insurance companies would be very negative to wards any claim....

Best to just get headrest DVD's for the kids, no?

Problem is I have a C63 AMG with AMG seats with built in headrests...don't want to be cutting into the seats if I can help it...

Also don't fancy having those Aldi units hanging over the seatbacks.....

They'll have to put up with watching it on the iPad....

OP assuming you have a DIGITAL tuner then press TV and press the search / scan button and press 1 - 9 for a few seconds on each station you want to keep

Its possible you have a ANALOGUE tuner that now has no service and is useless

You can, however, attach an iPod with video or a DVB tuner to the AV1 and AV2 inputs and play those through the TV.

Fair do's - that won't work then.

iPad it is then.

Or there may an MB OEM low-mounted centre screen option. Certainly true for the E Class anyway. It's the only option for later 211's as they have active headrests that move in an impact and you can't replace them/hack about with them.

EDIT Or you get aftermarket ones - a good fitted could probably make the install look suitably discreet
