Hi

I have a A class (A140) with power steering issues.
It stopped working all together last week and suddenly at lunch time today started going again, however even with the ignition switched off the the pump continues to run! The only way to stop it is to remove the 60amp fuse.

I am told this a common fault and I guess it means a pump and electronics box replacement?

Any ideas/suggestions gratefully received.

I'm hoping it's not that common as my wife's got an A140 (99 on a T)!!

It's not a problem I've heard of but this site has been really useful for sorting out issues that have cropped up and you can mail him with any questions not covered.

Let us know what the fix is, just in case!

Thanks for the link, look very useful. I have a complete second hand pump coming from a breaker so will let you know if it fixes the problem.

Sorted....

I fitted a second hand pump(£65) on Saturday(3 Hours in total).
Genuine MB fluid (£17.00)
Problem solved!
If anyone need any pointers give me a shout, it was the classic failure case, in that the electronics box was full of water when I took it apart, very poor design IMHO!!

Usually it's one or the other, very rarely both.
