C43 - all may not be as it seems...

An innocently worded advert, but as Chiefski and I know, all is not as it seems with this car....

I looked at the car nearly 3 years ago. At the time the odometer read....88,000 miles....it appears to have covered not one mile more over those 3 years.....according to the ebay advert....
Digging into the service history (such as it was) I found that it first reached 88,000 miles in around 2005....
After I rejected it, it did indeed get sold to a guy who worked for Carrs in Exeter....but it certainly wasn't taken in partex by them!
Apart from these two discrepancies, the car was a bit "weatherbeaten" when I looked at it, but I believe that the chap who worked at Carrs resolved the rot issues and the tatty trim issues.
My bid of £3k was accepted for it, by the way....so it apears to have appreciated in value!
So buy with your eyes open and pay what you think a car with at least 6 figures under its belt would be worth....
It's amazing how many cars are out there with stories...I am waiting for T183 LRM to (re) appear - that's my C43 that was stolen and written off in 2008....I still have the service history, manuals and one key for that car :-)

You must know that I am not being untruthful about this car, I really am giving all the information as I know it. Plus, I'm pretty good with cars, having been a car mag editor for the past 20 years and having built seven or so project cars, plus built two of the Haynes/Max Power Peugeots for their modifying manuals. And I can honestly say that this is a very good car (I would say that, I know, but it is). Okay, it's not as immaculate as some lesser used, more expensive C43s out there, but it does look very tidy and, as the guy above has noted, it's had around £4000 spent on it in the past two years of my ownership, on mostly mechanical work and a bit of bodywork. Hope this helps.

But the recall database told me that the mileage was incorrect when I looked at it and in the ebay ad you wrote, you mentioned that Carrs had taken the car in partex, which somehow gives it that "main dealer" stamp of approval. I can accept that the previous owner may have told you that, but did he also tell you that the mileage was not genuine?
Oh and it's not "cyber bullying" - I didn't threaten to tell anyone about your car, I just suggested you might like to modify the advert a little. Your attitude was clear - you weren't going to change it
Good luck in selling it though - they are truly epic cars!
