Looking to buy a G Class

I'm looking to buy a G Class as a family car for the wife.

I have to say I don't know much about them.

Does anyone here own one? I'm looking to spend max £10k on one.

There aren't many around, but I am not in a huge rush at the moment.

They seem to have very high mileage - i.e. a lot go up and beyond 100miles, which is great! It means they are built to last.

Does anyone know of any problems, or what I should look out for?

Servicing costs?

How does the 3 door interior work? Are there bench seats in the back accessible via the back door?

It seems to tick all the boxes, but I have yet to be in one.

Have you tried speaking to G Wagen (top of the Google list) who are in the Reading area.

Firstly, they appear to have a couple in stock at your budget, but more importantly they are the specialists, and may well be local enough to look after your purchase - whether from them or elsewhere.

There are a lot of dogs out there, but if you are willing to search widely and are flexible there will be a few options in your price range. There was a beauty near us last year for five grand - 280 - 3 door.

Cool vehicle - a guy who uses my specialist has 5 - including an AMG.
