I am looking to buy an SLK – 2005 – 2007. I am not sure what model to look at?
It needs to be an Auto – are the auto boxes reliable?
The SLK 200 looks tempting although I have not ruled out the bigger engined cars. Reliability and maintenance costs are important to me, I tend to keep my cars a long time but tend to be low mileage so fuel is less important.

Any advice or links to sites where I can get advice would be much appreciated,

Thanks in advance

Get a 350 best of all worlds unless you must have the V8 soundtrack
look for water in boot
get the service history and check all has been completed
Auto boxes are superb ours has the 7 speed.

The 200 has a different auto box. Check the roof opens and closes properly and in about 22-24 secs.

350 is excellent.

Is this part of routine maintenance?

Yes but can be patchy because merc originally said the 7g was sealed for life but problems inside warranty period changed their views. Pretty essential maintenance
