E Series advice wanted

Newbie to MB is thinking about getting an E series, 270CDi or 320CDi, 2003 to 2005 vintage. Comments and advice on things to look for, gotchas and so on welcome. What's the difference between Elegance and Avantgarde specs?

This is the pre-facelift W211 model had a few electrical issues. Avantgarde is higher spec. with lower springs.

Face lift is from '06 where some issues were sorted out. Google "Mercedes Forum" there is a uk one all the info. you require is there.

Elegance is more comfort oriented and Avantgarde the sporty one. In the UK the latter has always been the most popular choice with the W211. Stretch a 2006 facelift one if you can, much better all-round car.
