Hi,
I've just acquired a 2006 C320cdi with, amongst other things, 7-G transmition and rear parkinging sensors.

There's a simple switch (labelled 1/0) an inch or so towards the rear of the car from the 'D' position on the gear lever in the centre console.

When 'off', the rear parking sensors seem to operate as normal.
When 'on', they operate as normal, but there's a constant beeping sound coming from the area around the headlamp switch (ie different position to the rear parking sensors).

I can't work out what it's for... and the handbook indicates that the only swich in that place is for aux' heating and looks very different.

Any ideas what it does?

Sorry I can't help. I've got parking sensors, but no button. My parking sensors are controlled by speed and gear selector position.

Just a thought do you have a tow bar? It may be an isolator to turn them off when towing.

What happens if you turn the headlights on? Does the sound go away?

Thanks. No towbar fitted. I'll check out the headlights - they have always been to auto when I've pressed the button and it made the same noise whether light or dark outside.

Still a mystery so far...

Is it dependent on the gear you're in? I mean maybe you're in reverse (or neutral so it's a warning to be careful) and it beeps.
