See advert: http://pistonheads.com/sales/1320762.htm

Is this really an option and would it give the effect as desribed in the ad'?

I understand that the top end can be de-restricted but can't you just turn traction control off?

With the money, anything's possible.

I believe you could specify an AMG derestriction package, but I assume this would have been an "off price list", special order option.
I'm sure power is increased over standard, but I have no idea as to how much.
I've not heard of the traction control upgrade before, but again, anything is possible.

The best thing to do would be to contact Mercedes-Benz UK, or even AMG directly to find out exactly what has been done smile

AMG publishes a very extensive price list which I have never seen in the dealer's. It contains a lot of exotic stuff. I'll try to find it one day, it used to be on their website, don't know whether it still is.

The de'restriction option was £2000 [had it on my first SL55 in 2003].
It consisted of lifting the limiter to 186mph, different tyres with a sticker
in the petrol filler flap for the new tyre pressures and a document in the
hand pack stating the change. There was no increase in power.
Merc quote 493 bhp this is a minimum so some engines will be better than others.
