I love the comment about owning it for 6 months and then having Mercedes sort it out under Mobilo....if it's that easy why didn't he do it? Oh, he was away...oh yeah...anyone buying that car will categorically not have Mercedes sort it out for free....I bet it's never been near a main dealer for the last 5 years...and I bet it's never been inspected by a main dealer for corrosion. Buy that car and you will have to pay for a repaint yourself...and it'll have rot elsewhere, that's guaranteed too....
Great, thanks for the comments, I think I will stick with a standard car as he now states that the air filter pipes had to be cut to allow for the modified air intake!!
As for corrosion- 30 year warranty applies to cars regularly serviced by MB and also having had the bodywork checks done yearly apparently, thats what an MB employee told me.

I'd buy a std one they are plenty quick enough without remapping them, and don't beleive anybody who tells you that they'll do 30mpg because they just won't!!
Probably best not mention that the 5.5 in my CL manages 25 around average and regularly get 29 on motorway trips then ...

My idea of 'taking it easy' must be different to everyone elses! I can't get more than 24mpg out of mine even on a 'steady' run. Besides I'd rather be getting 18mpg and have some adrenalin flowing than risk falling asleep trying to get 30mpg
I only get 24mpg if I drive in a really spirited way ...
I rarely take it easy but tend to stick to a steady 80 on the motorway. Must admit that I was surprised by the economy! Then again, when I had the spare wheel on and stuck to 60 from Manchester to Lincoln, I was averaging 32mpg until I left the A1!
