Hi

Came across a Mercedes cabriolet the other day which had the markings CLK on the left of the bootlid and AMG on the right of the bootlid (no other markings). The car only had one exhaust also, which I thought was a bit unusual for an AMG. Is this a genuine AMG or someone playing with badges?

Sounds like they are playing with the badges. It is probably a 200k Sport, which has the AMG kit etc. Still a lovely looking car though.

If you want to check without going to mercedes two quick things would be to look at the front brake calipers to see whether they are AMG or MB and to check whether the engine is amg or not. Of course you can always do a definitive check with MB. thumbup

Or you could ask them to floor it. If it sounds like a Micra you know what's going on.

Hmmm...my CLK 350 Sport came with an AMG badge on the boot...so I guess it isn't original after all!

Might be because it has the bodykit or wheels, so in a way it is valid.
