Hi guys,
I've been lurking for a while, primarily on the Porsche forum. I bought a 996TT 18 months ago, and pistonheads was a great source of info. I'm posting here as I need to change the wheels and fancy getting myself into an M63. Trouble is, there isn't a huge amount of info on here and was wondering if other users could post some comments on the vehicle, either owners or test pilots. My alternatives are RRS supercharged or Porsche Cayenne Turbo S I guess (05 or thereabouts).
I do around 3k miles per year, so mpg is not a major issue for me.
Cheers

You need to go and have a drive in one; ir's pretty hard to describe what they're like, but I guaratntee you will be absolutely blown away by it. If you can get to MB World at Brooklands and try one on the track, they are suprisingly nimble and the amount of power is incredible. IMO much better than both the Cayenne and the RR Supercharged.
I think doctord on here owned one for a while, may be worth checking his profile or sending him a message.

We don't have a ML63 here at Brooklands on track or as a demo. As far as I know the only people that have one as a demo is Bromley.I think doctord on here owned one for a while, may be worth checking his profile or sending him a message.

best 4x4 i've ever driven
if your driving into town everyday like i did you struggle to get 10mpg on a run it would creep up to 21, only likes v-power! (engine shut down on me for using tesco crap)
eats tyres, get the auto tail gate and reversing camera, rear screens are a waste unless you have young kids, aircon seats are great, as is the dynamic lights which come on as you turn the wheel.......
im sure the depreciation curve has flattened since i had mine, but boy was it a great 3 months!

I picked up mine new at the start of May and have just passed 5,000 miles in it. Mostly M-way driving and averaged 16.5mpg so far - the company pays! The car is very very quick with very nice power delivery - I much prefer the NA V8 to the Cayenne Turbo's rush. The last 1,000 RPM are epic. An RRS SC is sloth-like in comparison.
Handling is very taught in sport mode - its very chuckable on the back roads and feels similar to the Cayenne. In terms of extras:
Electric tail lift - saves getting your hands filthed on wet days
Rear seat AV etc - kids like it
Ventilated seats - hard to notice they're on
My 10 year old thinks its the fastest car we've got, quicker than the Lambo. Its not of course but sitting up high doing the speed it does can be misleading...
speak to doctorD on here, he played with the lowering sensors to drop it even more, surely this would help with handling in corners... i wish i had mine long enough to play about with some stuff like removing the mufflers (video on youtube of a black one with no mufflers - sounds UNREAL)Handling is very taught in sport mode - its very chuckable on the back roads and feels similar to the Cayenne.
