Hi, newbie here (though active in Italian forum).

I've just ordered a new AMG S65 in Australia and expect delivery next week. I want to take the car on a 3,000km journey straight away but I'm concerned that it will require its first service well before the 3,000km is done.

Does anyone know when the first service is scheduled on this model? The saleman doesn't know and doesn't expect to find out before the car arrives. redface

When my SL was new all servicing was dictated by the service indicator which was then 2years or around 10000 miles. From 2006 it has now become 1year or around 10000 miles. No merc to my knowledge needs a running in service.

Mark.

i think that's disgraceful - for any sale - let alone for one for that amount of money i'd expect him to get off his backside and find out.

As disgraceful as it is, I'd rather have a salesman who admits not knowing rather than one who makes something up.

i should have been clearer - there's no disgrace in not knowing - the disgrace comes with not being arsed to find out

I've now got the manual - no reference to a running-in service. However, it does say AMG cars should not be driven over 140km/h for the first 1,500km - that might be hard to achieve!

Car arrives today - I'm just a bit excited. smile

Well you should take it moderately to start with, I would keep the revs
down to say 3500rpm or 200kph.hehe

Amazing car, the first service is due at 12,500 miles or 12 months whichever is sooner. Hope your enjoying it.
