I have a manual C250TD. The sun has caused the glue to seep out of the leather gear knob, meaning it can't be touched without getting covered in glue. I have covered it with a plastic bag as (what I thought would be) a temporary measure.

Just phoned the local Mercedes dealer for a price for just the knob - £121 !!!!

Looks like the plastic bag may be a permanent fixture!

Bloody crooks!

Ebay , just get an aftermarket one , nice alloy one or leather would probably only cost about £20.

Go here and find the part number for your gearknob:

Then search for that part number here:

The new one is a one piece job, the knob and gaiter come as one piece. The gaiters are made in many different colours so you'll need to give your chassis number to get the right colour and gate shift pattern.

These are coloured leather and hand made, in quite small quantities now. To be honest 121 English pounds isn't too bad you skinflint.
