I've been thinking of changing my wifes Boxster for something a little more practical and thought the C55 AMG ticked a number of the boxes we need to tick.

We've always liked cars that are a little different from the norm but I know very little about these so I had a couple of questions:

1. Are they silly on fuel consumption (by silly I mean sub 20mpg)?
2. Does high miles matter or are they built well enough to handle good use?
3. What should I pay for one (probably 2004/5 with somewhere between 50-70k miles)?
4. Should I look out for anything in particular when looking for one?

Any info anyone has would be much appreciated.

don't own one and have driven on either, but i was taken out on the handling course at MB World. nice engine note and good performance, the interior is a huge let down, it really does let the car down. Compared to the E63 i know which one i'd like. have you considered the E55?

I, too, am currently considering a C55.
One thing I've been thinking about though is that for the £25-30k you pay for a C55, you could get an E55, with more equipment and more power!

I just don't like the look of the E55 unfortunately ... The C55 is just right size wise as well!
