Ok guys, Advice time

A mate of mine has the task of selling a MB 190E 2.5 16V EVOII...

(Library Pic obviously)

This car has been in the possesion of the owner for about 10yrs and was a personal import from Germany. It has around 50k miles on the clock and all the paper work proving it's authenticity (I do know which number it is but will refrain at the moment). Apart from needing a dam good clean is in good condition apparently. It does only have a partial service history but that is down to the fact that it has been sitting in the owners garage for just over 2 years without moving eek

Anyway, As the car has been sitting in a garage for 2 years without any TLC all 4 tyres will be replaced (they have good tread but seeing as they have been sitting semi inflated for a while it's better safe than sorry). On top of that the car will be getting a full service (belts & fluids and anything that needs fixing/replacing included) and a profesional valet/paint check.

The main question is... who can advice the best person or company within range of London to provide such services. My friend would (if at all possible) prefer to avoid MB main dealer labour charges and prefereably put the car in the hands of a MB specialist who will treat it accordingly. It would also be helpfull if said specialist's provide collection services as the preference would be not to run the car until it is back in fine fetle. Apparently it starts first time and purs but he would rather not risk driving anywhere until everything is 100%. Who knows the condition if belts, brakes etc after sitting for so long. There is also the small queston of tax & insurance etc.

He has already had someone offer him <Very low offer> in it's unloved dirty state but would prefer to get it restored and sold as a road car (other guy wanted to strip and race it). I don't think he was wrong to turn down that offer.
Edited to add: I've been asked to point out that the offer made was Very low and does not reflect the condition of the car even in it's current state

Any advice is very much appr.

ps. Mods, This post isn't intended as an advert and no prices will be discussed here. Should everything go to plan the car may well end up in the Pistonheads Classifieds

Try Peter Mould at PMW Ltd in Chelmsford (01245 496739)

Ex BMW/Merc tech who I have used for last 5 years and can highly recommend. Very professional set up with Labour rates half that of main dealers

http://www.pmwltd.co.uk/

Alternatively give Martin Pearse at MCP Motorsport a ring.

www.mcp-motorsport.com

He sells this type of car and although based in Norfolk he may be able to steer you toward a more local Evo specialist.

Based on my experience - Yes - His technical knowledge of BMW/Mercs is very good plus he has all the diagnostics available to him and his team.

He is also disarmingly honest and often talks me out of having work done if he doesn't feel its necessary.

Over the years I have seen all sorts of high end/performance Mercs & BMW's going through the workshop - including my E46 M3. He picked up a gearbox/prop/diff problem which BMW had missed and ultimately saved me c.£7k as BMW then changed them under warranty ....

If you are uncertain give him a ring or pop over and see him for a chat.

Sounds really interesting, would love to see pics.

Like the fool I am I'd probably happily buy it to get up to scratch as well!
There's a guy in Croatia in one forum who found an Evo I under some trees in a yard and has the task of rebuilding that.
